Comic recommendations for the week of March 19th:
ALL-NEW GHOST RIDER 1
I supported Blue Beetle and Vibe – I can do no less for this latino-led book. Money, mouth and all that. Interesting to note that the character’s last name is Reyes just like Blue Beetle. And my local comic shop guy said the story is riffing a bit off of Vibe’s series premise (a brother protecting another brother). Still, looking forward to it as it helps to correct Marvel’s lack of diversity in its solo titles.

BASEWOOD HC
By Alec Longstreth, a frequent guest on the Indie Spinner Rack podcast. It’s because of that show that I look for his work. Now you can too!

DEATHBLOW: THE DELUXE EDITION HC
An Image title I never read – even during the ’90s boom when I tried almost every first issue. There’s a curiosity factor going on here due to a few people talking about Lee’s art and how he changed things up or was doing a Frank Miller “homage”. Probably not entirely worth a purchase, but I may sneak a peak at least.

NEMO: THE ROSES OF BERLIN HC
I don’t think I ever made it to Black Dossier. I have a lot of LOEG reading to do.

NOAH HC
Before I even knew of the movie, this caught my eye in the January Previews mostly because of the Niko Henrichon art. Henrichon was the artist on Pride of Baghdad.

Deathblow. I think I got both issues where Lee did the art (and I could be remembering incorrectly here). Like Miller when he changed it up for Sin City and threw everything into a heavy black/white relief with lots of shadows, Lee did the same thing with this. I haven’t looked at these books since they came out twenty years ago, but, in my memory, those were some beautiful pages that really showed a different side to Lee – similarly, I really enjoyed the water colors he did for the Hush storyline as well.
