Recommendations for the week of April 30th:
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1
I’m looking forward to finishing Superior Spider-Man, a title that I’ve come to really enjoy, so it’ll be interesting to see if I continue on into Amazing now that Peter Parker is back. I do not care for the Ramos cover at all. Look for the Marcos Martin variant. It’s far more dynamic and creative.

THE CIGAR THAT FELL IN LOVE WITH A PIPE
Orson Welles. Rita Hayworth. And a fable about cigars. I don’t know why the premise grabbed me as much as it did – but this is just whimsical enough to warrant a look. By David Camus and Nick Abadzis.

DARKLIGHT OGN
A sci-fi story described as in line with BSG and Star Trek along with art by Piotr Kowalski of Image’s Sex and the upcoming Nightbreed. That plus the preview was enough to give it a small nod on today’s list.

FLASH ANNUAL 3
The New 52 Wally West controversy did what most over-inflated comicbook controversies do best: gained a new reader. I’m in.

SOUTHERN BASTARDS 1
I originally was going to skip this, even though I really dig Jason Latour’s art, but it’s getting strong buzz and I have to read it.

VERTIGO QUARTERLY CYAN 1 of 4
An anthology built around the four colors of comics coloring. A cool premise – now we get to see the execution.
