New Comics Wednesday 10.30.13
Little late on this one. Oops! Recommendations from the week of Oct.30th!
DC COMICS ONE MILLION OMNIBUS HC
One of those rare events that kicks off because of a celebration (the return of the Prime Superman in the 853rd Century!), rather than a tragedy. Of course, things go wrong, but there’s still a sense of wonder and legacy throughout. Especially considering the events leading up to this were Underworld Unleashed, Final Night and (shudder) Genesis. I see the tie-in issues in back issue bins all over various conventions, and here they are all in one publication. Been awhile since I’ve read this in its entirety.
DEADSHOT: BEGINNINGS tpb
The ’80s Suicide Squad series was already well into its second year when Deadshot received his own 4-issue mini-series. John Ostrander, Kim Yale and Luke McDonnell give us an even deeper look into the already popular villain and it’s not pretty. Although there are two other Deadshot appearances in this trade, the $14.99 cover price is a bit much for a 4 issue mini. It states the trade has 160 pages so I imagine there has to be some extra content in this one.
Ken Garing’s first 5 issues are worth a look if you like titles such as Prophet from Image or Dark Matter from Dark Horse.
RAGE OF POSEIDON HC
Anders Nilsen. Greek Mythology. Gods and modern day humans. Yup, I’m there.
REX ZOMBIE KILLER #1
Writer Rob Anderson (along with artist Dafu Yu) has always supported podcasting endeavors and I welcome the opportunity to return the favor. Please give the book a look as a thank you from me.
WILD WORK #1 of 5
It’s not often I spotlight books of this genre (horror/vampires), but something about the cover image struck me so I’m throwing it into the mix.
